Supporting medicines self-management webinars

Medicines self-management is an essential component of person-centred care. Every day, patients make decisions about how they take, adapt, organise, monitor, and manage their medicines within the context of their daily lives. Supporting patients to self-manage effectively can improve outcomes, enhance patient experience, and reduce medication-related harm.

This webinar series is designed to help healthcare professionals apply evidence-based approaches to support patients in managing their medicines safely and effectively. Drawing on research from the Medicines Optimisation Research Group at the University of Bradford, the series will explore practical approaches, real-world challenges, and opportunities to improve person-centred medicines optimisation.

Session 1

Participants will:

  • Understand the key principles of medicines self-management and person-centred medicines optimisation.
  • Recognise barriers and facilitators to medicines self-management across a range of patient groups and settings.
  • Develop skills to support effective medicines conversations and shared decision-making.
  • Gain practical approaches, tools, and resources to support implementation in practice.
  • Apply research evidence to improve patient outcomes and experiences.
