The Crucial Role of Supervision for Primary Care Pharmacy Professionals - 21st August 2024

We explored the importance of effective supervision, how skilled supervision enhances patient safety, improves service quality, and fosters professional development.

Our expert speakers, Nipa Patel and Danny Bartlett, shared practical strategies, case studies, and best practices to empower pharmacy professionals as supervisors and in accessing supervision throughout their career.

Nipa is a Lead PCN pharmacist for SASSE2 & 3 in Surrey and PCPA Vice President for London and South East. She is an advanced clinical pharmacist with experience in PCT, CCG, general practice, secondary care, community and now PCNs. She undertakes specialist clinics for respiratory conditions, anticoagulation, osteoporosis, heart failure & hypertension and more.

Over the last few years Nipa has been working at a more strategic level and introducing pharmacists into general practice and leads a large team of pharmacists.

In May 2023 she won the Excellence in General practice award at the National Clinical Pharmacy Congress. She has also presented at BMJ Masterclass, Clinical Pharmacy Congress and Pharmacy Show and has also taught on post graduate modules at University.

Danny works in both primary care and academia in Sussex, he has developed innovative ways to spiral supervision to encourage clinical autonomy and grow the workforce in a time of transition to more of a prescribing focused role for pharmacists, and a move towards advancing the pharmacy technician agenda.
