NHS Sussex Integrated Care Board (ICB) was formed from the merger of three clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) in July 2022.
A single Sussex partner formulary was successfully developed and launched, from a total of four legacy formularies operating across the three CCG's. This launched in April 2023.
Due to widespread variation of melatonin positioning (access routes, indications, and recommended products) across our four legacy formularies, harmonisation to a unified melatonin position was not possible at this stage. It was identified as a priority area of work requiring engagement and collaboration with all Sussex system partners due to its complexity and inequity of access across Sussex.
This submission details the work facilitated and undertaken by the Sussex Medicines Optimisation Team to arrive at a unified position for melatonin, which was successfully achieved and ratified by the Sussex Area Prescribing Committee in January 2024.
