This project was initially set up with a simple objective of reducing spend but became much more than that. Moving to Direct Purchase has created a landscape that makes new ways of working much simpler.
To that end we have enabled the formation of dressings Clinicals and Leg Ulcer clubs across Cornwall which has benefitted patients in improved healing rates.
Variation across Cornwall in terms of cost and formulary compliance we huge and we could not be assured that the best dressings for the wounds were being used. Direct Purchase allows for full formulary compliance.
